Frequently Asked Questions:
How does Plastic-Mart.com offer such low prices?
Plastic-Mart.com has partnered with the retail and wholesale companies to offer their proprietary products online, which automatically eliminates much of the overhead. Also, because we work directly with the manufacturers, we are essentially a wholesaler ourselves. And a wholesaler with lower-than-average costs can sell at below-wholesale prices.
Is quality sacrificed? Are your items "factory-seconds"?
No. We sell only the same top-quality products that you would purchase through any other wholesaler or retailer. The 200-gallon tank from Company ABC that we sell is the exact same as you would find anywhere else.
Is service sacrificed?
No, and in fact our direct contact with the manufacturers means that we can get your product shipped to you in weeks, not months.
Why are plastic tanks better than traditional steel/metal ones?
Plastic tanks and other products are superior to steel tanks in several ways. Plastic tanks are lightweight, inexpensive, rust-proof, have fewer design limitations, allow better storage capabilities in some cases, and can be produced faster. And with the rotational molding method, plastics are actually more durable than standard metal tanks.
What is Rotational Molding?
Rotational or roto-molding is a revolutionary technique that allows stronger, more durable plastic products at a lower cost than the traditional blow or injection molding techniques.
Once a three-dimensional design of the product is drawn using AutoCad or similar computer software, a team of machinists tools a mold (usually aluminum) to the design specifications. The mold is then sent to the plastics manufacturer, who adds the precise amount of plastic resin (hard and granular like sugar) into the mold and clamps it shut. Workers place the loaded mold into a large oven, which rotates it along both axis like a giant gyroscopic rotisserie. The aluminum heats up quickly, melting the plastic resin and coating the inside of the mold evenly. After the finished product cools and is lifted from the mold, it is inspected and shipped to the customer.
Casts used for roto-molding have fewer parts than those used in other plastic production. This means that there is less required maintenance and replacement over a production run, reducing costs even further.
I can't find what I am looking for. Can Plastic-Mart design a product for me?
Yes! We offer assistance in all aspects of design and production, helping you build from the ground up. We also offer free cast tooling with minimum orders. Find out more on our Custom page.
Are small production runs possible?
Yes, and in fact rotational molding offers a relatively cost-effective method of making shorter production runs compared to other molding techniques.
Are your products and services guaranteed?
Yes. Check manufacturer’s websites for specific warranty information.
